4 days in San Francisco

‘e decided to take a sisters trip to San Francisco a few weeks ago. I had never been and my sister had been asking to do a trip for a while. A few suggestions where put on the table, but we settled on San Francisco.  I did not want to take a lot of vacation days for this trip. I am saving some for a possible birthday trip 🙂 and the end of year holidays. I decided to take 2 pto days (Thursday and Friday) plus Saturday and Sunday. I flew out early Thursday morning and came back Sunday afternoon.

Because we knew that time was limited, we concluded that the main things we wanted to do was try the awesome food that San Francisco has to offer. We wanted to go to wine country, and try out the night life.  We were able to accomplish this and more. Below is my 4 day itinerary to San Francisco. The only thing we did not accomplish was trying out the famous sushiritos! 🙁 we were way too full from that days food.

Day 1:

Arrived at San Francisco international airport around 8 am. My sister picked me up from there and we drove straight to Somona ( about an hour and half drive). We wanted to start our trip doing wine tastings and walking through the vineyards. We went straight to our bed and breakfast, dropped off the car and went to get brunch. We followed yelps advice and went to the sunflower cafe. The food was delicious without a doubt and their monster mimosas are amazing!!! This was the beginning of our drinking day.

After brunch we headed out to Gloria Ferrer. This is a champagne vineyard, beautiful!!! This place is gorgeous and the champagne does not disappoint. The tasting consisted of 5 different types of champagne starting out with dry and ending with sweet. They were all really good, you can purchase a bottle to enjoy as well.  Our next stop was Jacuzzi which is about a 5 min drive from Gloria Ferrer. This is where the wine tastings began. We purchased our tasting for 5 different wines and walked around the property. The grapes were blooming which is really beautiful to see. Usually when I go the grapes are not in sight. Last but not least was Cline cellars across the street. By this point we were already very very happy. Purchased another 5 tastings and decided to sit and relax for a bit. The wine here was really good so I decided to purchase a bottle for dinner ( by the time dinner came around, we had exceeded our alcohol intake, however the bottle was enjoyed at a different night). After Cline we decided to have dinner at an Italian restaurant and called it a night. With the limited amount of sleep and a day full of drinking, we lasted longer than  I thought.

Day 2:

Woke up early got breakfast in Sonoma and headed to Muir Woods national monument. This is what I call Planet of the Apes forest. This is a must see if you are ever in San Francisco. Can not miss it! This was my main priority for this trip and it did not disappoint.  The entrance fee is $10 and you can spend as long as you want exploring this area. I do recommend to get there early as parking spots fill really quick. We had to walk about 20 min to get from the car to the main entrance. After exploring Muir, we headed down to Sausalito for some lunch (Tacos). This town is on the way down from Sonoma to San Fran. It’s a touristy town very cute and peaceful. After lunch, we headed to San Fran via the Golden Gate bridge. This was my first time seeing it and it is huge! very very cool. Decided to wonder around the city and ended up at Lands End lookout. From there you can take some trails up to see the Golden Gate. This was beautiful landscaping and it’s an easy hike. The bridge view is well worth the hike. Took some pictures there and went to Japan town for some mocchi. Unfortunately the mocchi place was closed so we just walked around. Dinner time came and we met up with our friend Amy who let us stay at her place ( THANK YOU AMY 🙂 !!).  By the time we were done with dinner and dessert, we decided we wanted to check out Castro district for some dancing.

Day 3:

Day 3 was also jammed packed with things to do.  First things first, Brunch at Sweet Maple where they have Millionaires bacon. Best bacon I’ve had (seriously should try it ). After brunch we decided to go to Fisherman’s Wharf, got to see the seals, took some pictures and got some clam chowder. Next stop was Lombard street and after went to explore China town. There is a ton to see there. Tea tastings and dumplings were the target. We wandered around China town for a while. Last stop was the painted ladies, more commonly known as the Full House houses. At this point we were tired so we decided to head home and enjoy that bottle of wine. Pregame for the night. After two glasses of wine it was time to head to Mission District and ended up in Makoutroom for some Latin dancing.

Day 4:

Unfortunately  it was an early flight out but definitely got to enjoy the City. We took Lyft and Uber throughout the weekend since parking in the city is not always easy. I wanted to thank Amy again for letting stay in her couch, she was a great host with a ton of great suggestions (Millionaires bacon). Overall it was a great weekend, kinda short for a city like San Fran with so much to do. The city was a little more expensive than Atlanta but it did not break the bank. Living here might be a different story.
